About
Camilleri's work includes researching and writing the biography of Tony Carr, a Maltese musician with a remarkable career working with distinguished, world-renowned artists. For his research on jazz in Strait Street with focus on Tony Carr, Camilleri received the RIDT Charles Gatt Award. He wrote and produced three documentaries: Strait Street to Abbey Road, about Carr's life and career based on the same research; Mar-Ritmu tac-City, a short documentary about Charles Gatt; and Keeping Time: The Malta Jazz Festival Story. He is also the founder of Nix Mangiari, an independent cultural research platform and label, through which he initiated Anecdotes of Jazz in Malta, a project that combines live music with film.
A drummer and percussionist, he has performed and recorded with local bands, artists, and collectives such as Brikkuni, Blue Tangerine, Sfera, Kym, Joon, and Saydon Studios. He has hosted workshops for aspiring drummers and performs frequently both locally and abroad.
